SEO Content Writing

Writing content can be challenging enough…

Writing good content is crucial for any website, and making sure that the content reflects the right tone and gets across the right messages can be quite challenging. However what a lot of people don’t realise is that good SEO copywriting is even more complicated.

Good SEO copywriting should include the main keywords used for that page, and these keywords should be emphasised in some way i.e. using strong tags. The copywriter should be aiming to get a keyword density of somewhere between 2-4% for each major phrase and around 1-2% for each minor phrase. Any more than that and the content will start to look suspicious. If the density is over 10% then this is what is known as keyword stuffing, and search engines will penalise sites for this.

Additionally the copywriter needs to consider keyword placement, which includes use in headings and making sure that keywords are prioritised early in the content. There is also keyword proximity, which is how close the keywords are together within the content, and a number of other factors that can make a big difference to the success of your copy.

As you can imagine, when writing for SEO it is easy to lose sight of the end user. Ultimately your content should be for the intended user, and if the content doesn’t make sense it won’t get the intended messages across.

Elevator SEO can provide guidelines for good SEO copywriting, and even write the content for you to ensure it is readable for both the user and the search engines.
